Over
the last few years cocktails have experienced a renaissance, and out
the heart and soul of the movement comes a resurgence of the use and
making of bitters.
Originally created as an elixir for the promotion of health and digestion,
the making of bitters has become a fine art akin to the cocktail itself.
No longer is the choice limited to Angostura and Peychaud's, now there
is a wide ranging choice of types and flavors. Almost every bartender
has his own special formula.
Brad Thomas Parsons new book Bitters came out in November 2011 and
is in great demand. He gives just as he says in the title: A Spirited
History of a Classic Cure-All. I read our advance copy and thoroughly
enjoyed it (Dandelion Botanical Company was featured in a few of the
photos and mentioned several times in the text, so we got to have
our own copy - Thanks Brad ! ). I am also making one of the recipes
with plans to do more - I can't wait to try them out!
So, if you need ingredients to create your own personal bitters and
maybe a copy of the book - you are in the right place! :) |
