Originally
created as an elixir for the promotion of health and digestion,
the making of bitters has become a fine art. No longer is the choice
limited to Angostura and Peychaud's, now there is a wide ranging
choice of types and flavors. Almost every bartender has his own
special formula. Many of our local - and not so local bartenders
get their herbs from us, and it's always fun talking about what
they are doing.
Brad Thomas Parsons new book Bitters came out in November 2011 and
is in great demand. He gives just as he says in the title: A Spirited
History of a Classic Cure-All. I read our advance copy and thoroughly
enjoyed it (Dandelion Botanical Company was featured in a few of
the photos and mentioned several times in the text, so we got to
have our own copy - Thanks Brad ! ).
This
book got me excited to try making bitters and so far I have made
24 different bitters! So much fun!
So, if you need ingredients to create your own personal bitters
and maybe a copy of the book - you are in the right place! :)
